Stefan fatsis meet & greet

We are thrilled to announce that Stefan Fatsis, the New York Times bestselling author of Word Freak: Heartbreak, Triumph, Genius, and Obsession in the World of Competitive SCRABBLE Players, will be joining us at the 2023 Word Cup as our keynote speaker!

In addition to sharing his insights and experiences as a top Scrabble player and journalist, Stefan will also be offering a meet and greet where players can get their copies of Word Freak signed and take pictures with him.

covid-19 policy update

WGPO will no longer require vaccines to play in tournaments after May 11 with the following caveats:

Players should test before the event, and if they test positive, they should not to come to the tournament (with entry fee refunds provided).
If players test positive during a tournament, they will need to leave and tell the director.
Masking will continue to be encouraged, with masks and sanitizer provided.

April 5, 2023 update

A player’s rating for division eligibility purposes will be determined as follows:

If a player has played a rated tournament between 6/1/2022 and 6/15/2023, then their peak rating during that period in any lexicon from any organization (WGPO, CoCo, WESPA or NAPSA), will be used.
If a player has not played in a tournament between 6/1/2022 and 6/15/2023, then their highest current rating in any lexicon from any organization (WGPO, CoCo, WESPA or NASPA) will be used.
Unlimited play-ups will be offered until June 1, 2023. After that date, play-ups will be offered only at the Director's discretion.
CSW Division 2 needs 20 people by 6/1 or it will be collapsed into division 1. Prizes will be adjusted.
